Glossary of Terms to Know

Maroons - anyone who supports Austin High is a Maroon, from the athletes in uniform, music students, theatre troupe, club members, parents in the stands, teachers and staff, boosters and supporters within the community... we wear maroon and support our school.
Old Austin High - frequently this phrase is used to refer to the Rio Grande campus, as it is the oldest home of Austin High in living memory, where many of our own parents and grandparents attended school, but it is not the original. See Campuses.
Violet Crown - a nickname for the city of Austin, read more here, and it was the name of our yearbook for one year, in 1921, when The Comet was published as an annual (a yearbook) for the first time. Read more about The Comet.
